Pastor Jay Johnson

Hi, My name is Jonita (Jay) Johnson, I’m a retiree that hasn’t learned what that means yet. All the things I enjoy doing, I’m dabbling in. All my children are grown with kids, so I have grans galore – YAY!!!.  At Roosevelt CC, I am Community Pastor doing what I enjoy best – working with people outside the church building. I’m involved with a homeless ministry called ‘Salt on the Street’ that originated from Cornwall Church seven years ago, and is still going strong.  It’s so wonderful to see lives changing, and to see the Lord in action in all parts of the city. Evergreen Rehabilitation Center is another ministry of Roosevelt CC to those who are elderly, and living at the center, and those who need some additional physical rehabilitation. This ministry opportunity is bringing in people from other churches who are working together to deliver God’s word on a regular basis.

I grew up in the Midwest – Iowa, Kansas and Minnesota, raised most of my kids in Seattle, then moved to Mississippi for 13 years. I LOVE to travel, haven’t found my home yet.

1.  I Love Preaching & Music – Gospel Choirs, piano classics,
jazz and some Christian bluegrass
2.  My favorite board game is dominoes (9′s), and I like Bid Whist
and  Spades
3.  I don’t like cats
4.  I want to see my BBQ Sauce (Mama Jay’s) and seasoning go world-wide
5.  I want to go on cruises, go digging for gold and turquoise,
and take an Amtrack trip across the United States.

  1. Hi Pastor Jay,
Jason Torgeson from Cornwall referred me to you. I am the Faith Community Liaison for Olive Crest’s FosteringTogether program (see website and ck out Faith Community tab)
My mission is to help make the church aware of the needs of Foster children in their communities…cast vision to the church for foster care ministries as part of the whole pro life continuum, that has long been left out. The Roosevelt neighborhood is one of two neighborhoods of focus for the Bellingham area. I will be in Bellingham on Aug 10th and wanted to know if we could meet. I have a meeting from 10-11:30. Would you be available for lunch? You can reach me by email or cell: 425-445-7956. I look forward to your response. James 1:27, Shirley
